ANCIENT WALLS

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, I remember the shiny green and black speckled marble  entryway of the apartment building where I lived, the concrete walls of the “corniche” and the mottled colors of the buildings on my street.

Fascinated by the layers I viewed on the walls of my youth, I want to explore the emotional layers that the history of these walls carry. I begin by creating texture and then layer paint intuitively. The mark making that follows gives form to the unfolding mystery created by the layers of color, line, and texture.

All paintings are acrylic on canvas.
